Batwoman has revealed a new look at Javicia Leslie in her Batsuit.
The actress will play Ryan Wilder in the second season of The CW series, replacing Ruby Rose’s Kate Kane after the actress bowed out of the show.
While Ryan will don Kate’s suit in the first two episodes of season two, the third episode will see the character redesign the super suit, sending a message to Gotham that a new hero has arrived.
Here’s your first look at Javicia in the new suit, which was conceptualised by Batwoman costume designer Maya Mani:
Javicia’s suit features a new cowl with red gauntlets over the forearms, and shorter boots. Her character Ryan will also only have red streaks in her hair.
“I love the fact that Ryan is becoming her own Batwoman – it’s her style, her swag, and her moment,” Javicia said.
“It was an honour to be able to collaborate with [executive producer] Caroline [Dries] and Maya. I felt it was important that viewers could tell by the silhouette that Batwoman was a Black girl.
“With the form-fitting suit and beautiful Afro, we definitely nailed it!”
